PLAYMODE, joining us to play alongside Zombie Disco Squad on 2nd January, has an EP out on Shir Khan’s Exploited Records on 12th December. It already has some heads turning - check out the list of praise under the video here.
His mystery is only outweighed by his production talents and he doesn’t do shows, apart from his exclusive set at United Colours.

KATO’S TOP 10 FOR 2010
Teki Latex - Answers {Sound Pellegrino} -Great to see the grand wizard Tek get back in the vocal game with this awesome spoken word meets classic wonky house release.
Round Table Knights - Calypso {Made To Play} - A total gamechanger now inspiring a rash of steel drum copycats.Shortstuff & Hyetal - Don’t Sleep {Punch Drunk} - UK spacefunk with a sly Beastie Boys sample as if I’m not going to like that - things started to get real fun when the left field dubstep dudes started making house temp ish.
Roska & Untold - Myth {Numbers} -Another case in point with the mighty Untold coaxing out Roska’s best yet - this is a proper tropical house music storm.
Venom & Damage - Deeper [Doc Daneeka Remix] {Ten Thousand Yen) - A rave key powder keg exploding into a tasty afro bass rollout. On a sidenote Doc Daneeka takes his name from an amazing 70s movie [or book] Catch 22 which is essential viewing [or reading]
Myd & Sam Tiba - Next Novel {Sound Pellegrino} - Club Cheval brought us a wealth of hot new talent this year with Myd, Tiba, Canblaster and Panteros666 all killing sound on the reg.
Mim Suleiman - Mingi {Running Back} - A tasty afro flavoured acid house meets disco cut produced by none other than Maurice Fulton who’s probably the best disco dj I’ve ever seen and his back catalog is a treasure trove of awesomeness.
Sona Vabos - Kikuyu {Southern Fried} - Alot of people ask me where I find my music and most of it comes from listening to other dj’s [live and mixes] I feel like it’s something people don’t do enough these days. Anyway my point is I saw Anna Lunoe spinning this cute lil’ afro beat floorburner and I had to have it.
Martin Brothers - Duckface {Dirtybird} - Total OMG moment when I first heard this on the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team “It’s raining crystals from the future” mixcloud and then another when they postered my Masters at Work blend of it on their blog - cheers guys
Act Yo Age - A Yoo {Southern Fried} - Local lovers deliver this little killer that I must admit I slept on for a minute until Harvard Bass made me see the light.

UC HEARTS NIGHT SLUGS
It’s no secret that we’re massive fans of Night Slugs. The label has had a killer year with massive releases by Mosca, Kingdom, Girl Unit, Lil Silva, L-Vis 1990, Egytprixx, Jacques Greene and Jam City. With head honchos like L-Vis 1990 & Bok Bok running the label, there’s no surprise that each release gets better than the last.
To celebrate the awesomeness that has been the first 365 days of Night Slugs, the team have just released their first compilation Night Slugs Allstars Volume 1 and boy is it a tasty meal. The comp includes 13 prime cuts from label regulars plus a bunch of exclusives and VIP versions.
Do yourself a massive favour get a copy from Boomkat or Juno.
